The result was a beautiful finished hickory tabletop. As an engineer I appreciate the attention to detail. The end grains were alternated to create a wave pattern. It’s apparent that this was planned ahead of time because you can see that the planks were sawed on their top/bottoms in an alternating fashion to make sure the bits the blade spits out all ended up on the bottom.
